1928 |
Born in Izmir, son of Ibrahim Ozkan, building foreman from Middle Anatolia.

Started his professional life as an apprentice fitter and turner with “Ismail Atik” machine shop at the age of 10.

1951 |
Raised to foreman at “Eritenel” machine manufacturing factory.
|
| 1953 |
Manufactured the first hot roll mill with a friend, used proceedings as capital for new ventures.

1955 |
Established “Defas” Steel Works at Cýnarlý with 3 other partners.
|
| 1965 |
Opened up Karabaglar manufacturing facilities of the same company. Started manufacturing various extrusions, as spring flat, construction steel bars.

1972 |
Partners decided to stop the operations of Defas. He decided to continue the tradition alone.
|
| 1973 |
Restarted with two stands – mini mill at Buca, this time with older son S.Mehmet, extruding rim profile for Jantas. Envisaging a high technology feature, sent his son to Middle East Technical University for management education.

1975 |
Commissioned the third stand, started manufacturing flats and rods.
|
| 1983 |
Established 4 stands - slab mill in Buca. Second son Mustafa who had completed his M.Sc in Mechanical Engineering in Germany was with him towards the commissioning stage of the mill.

1985 |
Delighted with first export of angle profiles to Germany. With the joining of youngest son Ugur after graduating with a Commerce degree from 9 Eylul University, a professional commerce department was established.

With the commissioning of no.1 thin profile mill in Aliaga, the capacity trebled.

1993 |
Commissioned Aliaga no.2 medium profile mill.
|
| 1995 |
No 3 thick profile mill in Aliaga commissioned.
|

1999 |
Sponsored and encouraged the start of medium profile mill revision project for 60 t/h capacity full continuous production system.

| 2000 |
Passed away as the founder of an industrial corporation which manufactures and exports the highest amount of steel profiles in Turkey.
